The Brahman Legacy

Welcome to Au Albidus, a premier Brahman stud group. Established with a passion for excellence in livestock breeding, we specialise in both stud and commercial Brahmans, delivering animals renowned for their superior genetics, resilience, and productivity.

At Au Albidus, our journey began with a commitment to advancing the Brahman breed in South Africa. Drawing from decades of experience in the industry, we focus on selective breeding programs that emphasise traits such as heat tolerance, disease resistance, and high meat quality—qualities that make Brahmans an ideal choice for diverse farming environments. Our herd includes top-tier white and grey Brahmans, carefully curated to meet the needs of commercial producers and stud breeders alike.

Why Brahmans?

Economic Efficiency

Efficient use of extensive grazing reduces financial inputs. Brahmans utilise all types of veld

Extended Marketing Period

Qualify for A and AB grades for up to 32 months

Parasite Resistance

Smooth coat, loose skin, black pigmentation and oil-gland secretion control parasites efficiently

Longevity

Still productive for 15-18 years. Proof of their resilience and good health

Hardiness

Perform and reproduce in extreme environmental conditions

Calving Ease

Cows restrict prenatal birth growth, resulting in lower birth weight; their characteristic sloping rump eases birthing

Heat Tolerance

Their black-pigmented skin, short, thick, glossy hair, abundant loose skin, and ability to sweat freely, contribute greatly to their heat tolerance

Breed all of these amazing qualities into your beef herd using the Brahman’s most prized quality of all:

HYBRID VIGOUR (or Heterosis)

The Brahman is one of the best breeds to use in a cross-breeding programme.

Maximum hybrid vigour is achieved when mating Brahmans with Bos taurus breeds (e.g. Simmentaler, Hereford, or Angus). Calves grow faster and the F1-Female cows produced, are the most fertile compared to any other synthetic female breed.
